Who Am I And What Do I Do?
Hi, there! I’m Nicole Burley and I’m a certified Life Coach and Health Coach.
I’m here to help you stay motivated as you re-work your diet, lose some weight, improve your health, and ‘turn on the lights’ in your life.
Health is fun.
When people hear that I’m a Health Coach, they tend to think about physical health and weight loss. Makes sense, right?
But I’m also a Life Coach, which means that I am really interested in YOU – beyond your cholesterol levels and the number on the scale.
Your life, your health, your food, and your habits are all intricately connected.
So often, though, we move through our days ‘in the dark’ – not realizing how our thoughts and behaviors are gumming up the works!
My job is to help you get out of your own way, so that you can eat and live on your own terms. No more ‘shoulds’ and no more ‘diets’.
I’m talking about treating yourself with kindness. Always.
I’m talking about acting in your own best interest – making conscious choices about your food, and your health.
You have the power to ‘turn on the lights’ in your life and start living differently.
That’s what I’m here to help you do.
But who am I – really?
Some people like to know things like where I went to school, how I was trained, and whether or not I’m certified in anything. Other folks like to know more personal stuff to see if we ‘click’.
So here, without further ado, I give you a bit of both……
In A Nutshell
I am a born and bred New Yorker, and I can’t see myself living anywhere else. For the past 20 years, I have devoted myself to my own personal growth and development. I know first-hand that it can be frustrating and challenging – but also completely and utterly worth it. Do it! There is joy on the other side!
As a former dancer, I know a bit about food and body ‘stuff’. Actually, more than a bit! I’ve been on a ton of diets, programs, cleanses, regimens, and plans in my life – and I can safely say that it’s all exhausting.
My weight finally stabilized – effortlessly – and my health improved when I committed to my health first and weight loss second.
For me, healthy eating means a whole foods, plant-based diet – no meat or dairy. Some folks call that ‘vegan’, but I try not to label, because I will occasionally eat fish, and I don’t want anybody yelling at me! And if I ever go to Paris again, I will eat their perfect, buttery croissants every day – because life’s too short!
I love food, dogs, Tina Fey, Alvin Ailey, and Zumba. I’ll watch almost anything on Bravo and I adore a good ‘Law and Order:SVU’ marathon. I’ve been married since 2009 to the man of my dreams, and I look forward to living healthily and happily ever after with him!
Education and Credentials
B.S. Speech, Northwestern University – 1993
(I was a theatre major and a professional dancer back in the day – and I still do voiceovers for radio and TV commercials!)
M.Ed. Early Childhood – DePaul University – 2004
(I taught preschool briefly, but shifted my focus to the adults and personal development)
Graduate ‘Coach U’ – 2010
(The world’s original coach training school. It’s one of the top training programs for personal and corporate coaching)
Certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition – Cornell University 2011
(Here I had the chance to learn in-depth from the experts and solidify what I’d been studying on my own for over a decade. I loved every second.)
International Coach Federation – Associate Certified Coach – 2012
(I’m incredibly proud to be a certified coach through the ICF. Seriously – make sure your coaches are independently certified. It matters!)
I’m also a certified pilates instructor – although I don’t teach anymore. Coaching stole my heart!
Your turn.
Plop your name and email into the box at the top of the page and we’ll be friends forever (until you unsubscribe, that is). I’ll send you some awesome, easy tips each week to keep you healthy and happy – and you can tell me how good you feel as a result!
