Quick Trick To Avoid Overeating.

My mom used to say that certain foods were ‘more-ish’.

More-ish: when eating a certain food makes you want MORE  of it.

I don’t know if she invented that term - but, in my mind, she did - and so it stuck.

Haven’t we all experienced this concept in action?

For example - pretty much any kind of potato chip is more-ish.

It says right there in the ads, “Betcha can’t eat just one”.

They’re taunting you.

Other foods are more-ish, too.

French fries.

Popcorn.

Mixed nuts.

Snack mix.

M&Ms.

I could go on - for quite a while!

How To Avoid Overeating ‘More-ish’ Foods.

This may sound annoyingly simple - and not that satisfying, but -

The best way to avoid overeating more-ish foods…..is not to start.

I know. It’s not what you want to hear.

But you also don’t want to feel like a slave to a stupid bowl of snack mix.

And you REALLY don’t want to feel gross and greasy after mindlessly devouring a whole bag of chips.

Know thy triggers.Know thy triggers.

Recognize a more-ish food.

Act in your own best interest.

I’m not talking about those foods that you can comfortably eat in moderation - like carrots and hummus.

I’m talkin’ about the foods that give you DRAMA.

If you KNOW that you will be rendered powerless if you have even one taste of a salt-and-vinegar potato chip, you have two options:

  1. Eat the chips and accept the consequences.

  2. Don’t eat the chips.

And if you hate both of those options, I would encourage you to give some extra thought to your short-term goals and your long-term vision for your health.

What matters to you most when you’re staring down a basket of fries?

There is no ‘right’ answer - but the question is out there, and the choice is yours!

To your health!
