Health begins in your mind – not your mouth. Each week, I ask the same 5 questions and shine a spotlight on how different people THINK about health.
Today’s guest is a new friend of mine who I think is doing really groovy work for women’s health. If you’re looking for a SAFE, sensible, natural way to detox your body – look no further!

What does ‘healthy’ mean to you?
Being healthy to me is a combination of the physical body, mind, and soul. You can eat all the vegetables you want, but if you are judgmental, constantly stressed, or don’t exercise, well, it is really hard to obtain optimal health. Being healthy to me is having your practices in place: exercise routine that you love, spiritual work such as meditation and journaling, eating whole foods, and filling your soul with love and connection with others.
What are your specific reasons for wanting to stay healthy?
My kids. Plain and simple. I want to be active, pain free, vibrant when they get older so I can play with my grandchildren, be alert and mentally engaged, and swim, run, bike in my golden years. I also want to be a good example for my kids…modeling is the best way to teach others about good health.
What is a simple healthy habit that you practice every day?
Apple cider vinegar! I swear it boosts my immunity. I take a tablespoon every day, and if I feel a sore throat coming on or if my kids get a cold, I down that stuff immediately. I think it knocks out any germs. I really swear by this…it is even said to help you look younger. Maybe that is why I really do it every day!
How do you handle ‘cravings’ – or those challenging moments when you don’t feel like making a healthy choice?
I tend to give in! That is the honest truth. Since I’ve been juicing and eating a lot more greens and veggies, my cravings aren’t happening as much as before. But if I get really stressed or busy, I tend to grab my tortilla chips (salt is my go-to!), but I allow that to happen and let go. Usually I realize that I’m having a challenging moment due to what is going on in my life at that time. That way I can get more insight to the craving and make healthier choices next time.
Name one ‘health’ food that you used to think was weird – but now you love it!
It’s got to be that kale…I would look at it in the produce section and get really weirded out! After a few tries, I began to make friends with it. Now I use it in my green juice, salads and soups, and I can’t go without it. I miss it if I don’t get my fix. I crave it!
